Meet The Doctor

Dr. Matin and FamilyLoujan J. Matin, D.C.

I first moved to Concord, northern California in 1974, and graduated from Ygnacio Valley High School where I played soccer.  I graduated from Diablo Valley College, in 1978, and chose the Palmer College of Chiropractic, in Davenport, Iowa, the first and the most awarded chiropractic college by the National Institute of Health, for scientific research, to pursue my scholastic career. In 1982, I completed the training at Palmer, and moved to Columbia, SC. In 1986, I met Rosita, the most awesome, kindest, intelligent, beautiful, wisest, young lady that a young man could meet. Proposed to her in the second day, four months later were married in Irvine, CA, where she used to reside. She moved with me to Columbia, and there we had THE most wonderful life, raised our two beautiful daughters, where both became lawyers (could not talk them into becoming chiropractors). After 30 years of most awesome life, the world lost a great personage, Rosita, my beloved to cancer! Our reason for moving to SoCal for better treatment options.

My father was Army Colonel, and my mother, who raised me with moderate amount of discipline, to which I credit the success of my marriage and professional career.

I selected an evolved approach of spinal adjustment Activator Method to detect biomechanically compromised motion segments of the spine, and adjusting them. I was first introduced to Activator Method while at Palmer.   I soon found out that most patients liked their spine adjusted with the Activator. So my interest grew towards mastering it. It is a gentler and lesser, to no force technique. I took many license renewal courses in the Activator method, that I eventually got into research and discovered two "isolation tests" that now is being taught at chiropractic colleges and post-doctoral seminars.

In 1989, I was involved in a severe auto accident. It was then that I became ‘one’ with my own patients, understood their pain, the devastating sequally that came few hours to days after automobile collision. Hence, I pursued a sub-specialty within chiropractic profession, went back to school, and received advanced post-doctoral training in the Spinal Biomechanical Engineering and Trauma. Please, read my CV carefully at uschiropracticdirectory. I believe that all injuries suffered in auto collisions must be addressed with a multi-faceted approach.  The clinical excellence that I expect from myself is the ‘key’ for so many patients getting their normal life back. This excellence starts from connecting the axis between the causality, to bodily injury, and to persistent functional loss, from the moment I meet the new patients. This includes chiropractic care, first, as well as referrals to other professionals, i.e.: neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, neurodiagnostics, pain specialists, etc. as indicated.
